Asked to nominate the best-ever recording of Chopin’s Op 28 Preludes I would be hard pressed to choose between Alfred Cortot’s from 1933 and Benno Moiseiwitsch’s from 1948, both of them deeply appreciative of the intense poetry and quick-fire changes of mood that sit at the very soul of the music.
