The full splendour of the baroque space and sound drama can be felt in this performance of Heinrich Biber's polyphonic masterpiece, the Missa Salisburgensis, and the Venetian choral works by Monteverdi, which inspired the first work.
The complex composition consisting of astonishing 53 parts was performed in 1682 to celebrate the acoustic possibilities of the newly built Salzburg Cathedral with a mass. In the same building the work for the production of this DVD was performed again.
The authentic 360-degree surround sound lets you experience the music in an acoustic diversity that seems to radiate from the levels and galleries. Here the acoustics of the architecture were fully exploited.
