Noel Bauldeweyn is one of the many composers who have long been lost in the depths of history. It is noteworthy that until recently works by Bauldeweyn were attributed to his much more famous contemporary Josquin des Prez. This, of course, sheds light on the quality of his compositions: Bauldeweyn's style, with its sometimes very rugged dissonances, anticipates a little the music of Nicolas Gombert, fits in with canonical and imitative movements, but also with the compositional technique of Josquin and his students. The Ensemble Beauty Farm dedicates its latest CD to this exciting and still largely unexplored composer.
