To mark the 150th anniversary of the premiere of Verdi's Don Carlos, Dynamic releases this recording from last year's Festival Verdi in Parma.

The audience was enthusiastic - especially bass Michele Pertusi as Filippo II was celebrated frenetically for his performance.In 1867 Verdi's opera Don Carlo, based on Schiller's (almost) poem of the same name, was performed for the first time (in French, by the way). Thus, this year marks the 150th anniversary of that date. The originally five-act, French-language opera was transformed by the composer in the course of time into a four-act Italian-language opera. And this is how the work is usually performed to this day. This is also the case in this performance of the Festival Verdi of the Teatro Regio di Parma, which is teeming with interesting voices.
