After the cpo releases of his violin and cello concertos revealing his unique charm, we are happy to announce this new release of Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s complete wind concertos. The Idillio Concertino oboe concerto has a rather carefree, serene character, and it is especially the second movement that justifies its title. The Bassoon Concerto too is a musical fantasy with a scherzo touch here and there, while the English Horn Concerto creates more of a gloomy, melancholy mood of elegiac beauty – all of this in keeping with the times in which it was written. The booklet itself once again can stake a claim to literary quality: its author is the well-known German writer Herbert Rosendorfer.
