Reissued to celebrate Michael Höltzel's 80th birthday, this recording is a wonderful, unique snapshot of the hunting culture apparent in this area of Germany. Only a few professional parforce ensembles could meet the musical and technical challenges of the present recording program, and so far only the Detmold Hornists under Michael Höltzel, internationally renowned experts in the field of parforce horn performance, have made a career of rising to the supreme musical and technical challenges of the liturgical hunting repertoire. Hunting horns are depicted echoing throughout a hilly, idyllic country setting with people by the thousands flocking to a Lower Franconian town. Rügheim, where festive masses are celebrated on horseback at the close of traditional spectacles is the location of this wonderful recording.
