opis
One of Italy's greatest film directors, Ettore Scola, has directed Puccini's masterpiece La Bohème for the 60th Puccini Festival 2014. La Bohéme shines with an extraordinary cast with the unmistakable voices of Daniel Dessi as Mimi, Fabio Armiliato as Rodolfo, Alessandro Luongo as Marcello and Alida Berti as Musetta. Valerio Galli conducts Puccini's masterpiece, which was first performed in Torre del Lago. Besides Ettore Scola, Luciano Ricceri is responsible for the stage design. •
"I always come here and go bird hunting by boat...but once I would like to come here and enjoy one of my operas in the open air..." Puccini wrote in a letter in November 1924, shortly before he died. It was in this place in Torre del Lago, Tuscany, that the Puccini Festival was born in 1930 to make the Maestro's dream come true for posterity. For a long time Puccini stood in Verdi's shadow, but he stood out from his role model above all through the impressionistic tone colours and stirring melodies of his operas. The calm and fascinating waters of Lago di Massaciuccoli form the backdrop to the festival stage.
