The titan of the symphony and the sonata overshadowed the song composer Beethoven a little. But his songs are by no means lacking in charm and originality, as this selection of the most famous of them shows - from "Adelaide" to "An die ferne Geliebte", the first song cycle in history. The string piano of 1847, chosen by Christoph Berner, is an ideal accompaniment for these songs and an equally perfect medium for the Bagatelles op. 126.
• Reviews •"Güra's singing is free of all effects, less is always more with him, as if he wanted to step back completely behind text and music in order to offer the listener only the essence. This further enhances the intimate character of this recording. The quality of the congenial duo Güra / Berner is particularly evident in the subtle changes of mood" (FonoForum, January 2016)
