The so-called play opera was a German Variant of the French Opéra comique - and she was a 19th-century A crowd-puller! Composers like Albert Lortzing, Otto Nicolai, Friedrich von Flotow and Peter Cornelius were veritable Superstars of the opera world of their time.
This Album brings together the overtures to their and puts them next to the most famous operas "Role models" by Adolphe Adam, Daniel Auber or Ferdinand Hérold. Conductor Lance Friedel is one of the few students of the great Georg Tintner. He also visited Master classes with Leonard Slatkin, Andre Previn and Lorin Maazel.
