One of the finest Russian mezzo-sopranos of her generation, Elena Zaremba began her singing career at the Bolshoi Theatre in the mid-1980s. Only recently has the singer turned to chamber vocal music for the first time. This new Melodiya release covers a hundred years of the evolution of Russian romance – Glinka, Dargomyzhsky, Rubinstein, Cui, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Medtner. This program was born through collaboration with pianist and concertmaster Antonina Kadobnova, a very active solo performer and accompanist performing with both well-known and young vocalists.
