This is fine lyrical English chamber music, in which a clarinet is often involved, though the last work is a distinguished violin sonata. It often reminds me of the English poetry of the period -- De la Mare, Hardy, Edward Thomas. Like these poets the music is often brief, but finely wrought and memorable. There is a distinct edginess lurking among the tunes, which personally I like. The best Milford CD I have heard to date and much to be reccemended
