Always an intrepid musical explorer, Magic Malik decided to start messing with electronic music on this new project, alongside DJ Oil, Gilbert Nouno and Hubert Motteau. Between contemporary music, electro, pop and jazz, the new album, Tranz Denied, was essentially composed in studio on a rhythmic base laid out by DJ Oil, on which Magic Malik sings, plays flute, keyboard, bass and guitar. Malik Mezzadri made a name for himself by being a part of some of the most remarkable bands of the last fifteen years. He grew up in Guadeloupe where he began playing flute at the age of 6. He moved to Marseille at 17 and graduated from its Conservatoire with a Flute first prize. After 10 years playing with Human Spirit, he founded the Magic Malik Orchestra and released his first album in 1997 called HWI Project (Salam Aleikum). Between 2000 and 2012 Magic Malik recorded no less than 8 albums: 6996 in 2000 (Label Bleu), his double album 00-237 XP-1 in 2003, 13 XP Song s Book with the Magic Malik Orchestra in 2004, followed by the XP2 in 2005, Altiplano in 2008, Saoule in 2008, Short Cuts in 2011 (Bee Jazz) and Alternate Steps in 2012 (Bee Jazz). Malik has recorded and composed with many musicians from the new generation: M, Bumcello, Camille, Pierrick Pedron, Aka Moon and Booster. Recently he s worked with Hocus Pocus, Air, Oumou Sangaré, Anthony Joseph and Meshell Ndegeocello.
