As a virtuoso and professor of double bass at the Paris Conservatoire, Jean-Paul Celea is one of the few soloists who is equally at home in classical and contemporary music as in jazz, which benefits greatly from this opulent sound thanks to the precision of Celea's aesthetic preferences and his openness to the freest forms of contemporary music. Together with his long-time companion, drummer Wolfgang Reisinger, he forms one of the most sought-after "rhythm groups". The third member of this newly formed trio is the young saxophonist Émile Parisien, who is the audible heir of John Coltane and displays astonishing maturity, energy and modernity. Intense, light-flooded and cleverly they approach unpublished and historical compositions by Ornette Coleman.
