With a multi-faceted musical portrait of the Frederician Berlin, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin is presenting the "Old Fritz" with a very fitting birthday present: The jubilarian himself will be honoured with an imaginative and sonorous sonata of his composition, Johann Gottlieb Graun will contribute a representative overture and an atmospheric viola da gamba concerto, Christoph Nichelmann will be allowed to prove with a top-class piano concerto that he is (still) an unjustly forgotten master, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach will present himself with a symphony as the leader of the "Sturm und Drang", the musical avant-garde in Germany at that time.
