Little is known about William Young’s early development as a musician. This English composer and gambist spent the last years of his life in Innsbruck, at the court of the music-loving Archduke Ferdinand Karl. Excellent references even then documented this outstanding musician’s renown. Young’s works as transmitted today are highly varied in style, proving him to be an adaptable, versatile composer open to the developments of his time.
