The opportunity to spend three days intensively recording the four Bach concertos is an uplifting experience. Each work encompasses a unique world of expression in which discovering the real content of each sentence becomes a kind of obsession! The concerts in A minor and E major are old friends of mine. I grew up with them, and at a young age I often played them. The other two, G minor and A major, were very familiar to me (as harpsichord concertos or in various transcriptions). It was a pleasure to explore these pieces directly and renew the acquaintance. • Rachel Podger
