In 1774 the Viennese publisher Joseph Kurzböck published the first printed edition of Joseph Haydn's music, which was published at Haydn's own request and under his supervision. In these works Haydn presented himself as the first-class composer of his time with inexhaustible imagination, sparkling elegance and expressive depth. At the age of 42, he now had ample experience to avoid imbalances in his musical statements; however, a striking element of these works is their freshness and the artistic spirit of departure inherent in them, turning towards new horizons. • Iddo Bar-Shaï was born in Israel in 1977. From 1995 he studied at the Rubin Music Academy in Tel Aviv and attended master classes with Alexis Weissenberg. The young pianist soon attracted attention, and from 1998 to 2002 he received a scholarship from the Israeli-American Cultural Foundation. With performances in Israel, Europe, the USA and China as well as victories at international competitions, his career developed on an international level. Iddo Bar-Shaï also cultivates chamber music with particular love.
