The Italian composer Ildebrando Pizzetti, born in 1880, is considered the founder of modern Italian music. 1921 praised the Musical Times described him as "without doubt the greatest musician in Italy today". His powerful violin sonata, performed during of the war years 1918-1919, takes up the theme directly in the opening, to be followed in the course of the prayer for the To bring the innocent to a conciliatory, even hopeful conclusion.
