Bach's sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord represent the first important works in music history in which the keyboard instrument does not function as a mere "harmony filler" in the continuo group. Composed in the years 1718-1722, when Bach was court kapellmeister in Köthen, they required very experienced musicians for both instruments. With Pablo valetti and Céline Frisch, ALPHA has found two interpreters who have already proven their competence in Bach on several occasions.
