Some of you will know Edin Karamazov as the accompanist of countertenor Andreas Scholl. On this CD the lutenist juxtaposes a lute transcription of Bach's Partita in D minor BWV 1004 and Britten's Nocturnal Op. 70. Like in a tormenting dream, John Dowland's well-known song "Come, heavy sleep" emerges in Britten's piece in the course of the eight variations. By the way, both works end in a Passacaglia or Chaconne. Forms that play a very special role in the work of both composers.
