Despite his extensive oeuvre, Bach has published very little in print compared to Telemann or Handel. In 1731 he published in Leipzig the first part of his four-part keyboard exercise, which contains his most mature suite collection, the six partitas BWV 825-830, and dedicated it to the "Liebhabern zur Gemüths Ergoetzung". Only a few organists have a knack for the harpsichord, and only a few harpsichordists master the demands of the organ. One of the few exceptional talents is the young Frenchman Benjamin Alard (born 1985), who won first prize at the Bruges Competition (harpsichord) in 2004 and first prize at the Gottfried Silbermann Competition in Freiberg in 2007. After his masterful recording of the organ trio sonatas (ALP 152), he is now also convincing on the harpsichord as one of Bach's future interpreters.
