Thornton and Jones have remained largely unknown except to collectors who cherish their early Paris records and the world they evoked. We know little about what they did in later years, but if Hemingway was right, "If you're lucky enough to live in Paris ["jazz"] as a young man, it will stay with you wherever you go for the rest of your life." Thornton died in Switzerland in 1989, largely forgotten in his native country. Jones died in 1998 in New York City, and his name has all but disappeared even from the history books of the avant-garde.
