The Italian baritone is a guest at the opera houses: from the Metropolitan Opera and La Scala in Milan to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, from the Zurich Opera House to the Berlin State Opera and Dresden Semperoper. Michele Mariotti, Born in 1979 and already chief conductor in Bologna, leads the ensemble with bravura. Simon Boccanegra is certainly not one of Verdi's best-known operas. The composer also worked on this opera several times first performed in Venice in 1857, but the new version did not have its premiere until 1881.
