Cello works by the greatest Hungarian contemporary composers on Ildikó Szabó's album!
„Ildikó Szabó is an extraordinarily talented cellist and musician who has already attained a high degree of mastery on her chosen instrument.” – said Alfred Brendel, the world-famous pianist about the young artist, who is already known for her musical intellect and imagination in classical music circles, not least for technical virtuosity. Her first solo album features – in addition to famous solo sonatas by Zoltán Kodály and György Ligeti – works written for cello by Péter Eötvös, György Kurtág and Csaba Szabó. The recording is the realization of a dream of several years, a long process which is the result of her cooperation with Péter Eötvös and György Kurtág.
Two of the pieces on the album have world premieres: György Kurtág's The Hilary Jig, and the Suite for Cello Solo with Cowbells of Csaba Szabó (the talented cellists' grandfather) which are recorded for the first time.
