François Salque (cello) and Vincent Peirani (accordion) have commissioned works from their fellow composers based on popular themes…

François Salque is a classical cellist fascinated by the popular repertoire of Central Europe and is in line with classical artists such as Kreisler, Bartók or Ravel who had taken up in their classical vocabularies these poetic and popular themes collected in the campaigns of Central Europe. Here it is young composers who have designed these rewrites.

However, the presence of the accordion rather than that of a piano, the quasi-improvisation work of Vincent Peirani replaces the project in the imagination from which this music comes: the popular and the burst of the musical moment.

This is a very original reappropriation where the experience of contemporary scholarly music by François Salque (Boulez, Dutilleux, Zygel, Beffa, etc.) is confronted with the jazz and world experiences of Vincent Peirani (Portal, Humair, Korcia, Alagna, Sanseverino…) bring a new transparency to this music.

François Salque carries this album from start to finish; collective creation, where musical text, interpretation and improvisations intersect to reveal the sensitivity and virtuosity of two extraordinary musicians.

A universal music that places authenticity not in the terroir (of central Europe), but in this "being oneself", in its play and its communicative emotion.

EST is the first solo album signed by François Salque; a kind of profession of faith on his relationship to music and in particular to creation...
