The Kumquat quartet presents its first disc resulting from five years of musical exploration in eclectic universes: jazz, rock, improvised music, Stravinsky ... They are young, promising and creative: Sylvain Choinier, 1st Prize soloist Tremplin du Jazz idf 2006 , Julien Bloit juggles on drums with a thesis on the real-time recognition of instrumental playing modes at IRCAM, Clément Lebrun, musicologist, 1st Prix CNSM de Paris in analysis and musical culture intervenes on bass as well as Cité de la Musique or with Christophe Rousset or in his renaissance vocal ensemble Non Papa, Rafael Quenehen blows at the CNSM of Paris in Jazz and participates in many groups with Dehors, D. Chevallier, Ramon Lopez ...
"This record was born a desire shared by all the members of the Kumquat: to capture the energy of the group in the unique moment of a concert by associating it with the technical precision of the studio to better underline the contours of the most complex sections . The songs on the disc were recorded in three stages: a live take and two studio sessions.
The experience of assembly [cf. Line 12; In bed with Igor] reveals a speech conducive to renewing the listener's attention. To the raw live sound of La Revenge de l'ogresse stands out the editing work offered by the possibilities of the studio.
