"Orchestral versions of the 'Player Piano Studies' have already been realized, now the Carlfax Reed Quintet and pianist Ivo Janssen have recorded a chamber version in arrangements by Raaf Hekkema. Hekkema himself plays the saxophone. How different are the pieces in these versions, interspersed with the wind quintet timbres, in which the piano still has a dominant function, especially for the rhythmic part.
