Anette Maiburg (flute) and Joaquín Clerch (guitar) form the basis of the Classica series on MDG. Their musical language is distinguished by a marvelous combination of training in classical music and world music, and their Classica Cubana disc not only brought them a surprise success but also promptly earned them an Echo Klassik prize. And now Maiburg and Clerch turn to Argentina and to special partners for the realization of this program. Guido Schiefen’s cello playing and Francisca Beaumont’s racy alto voice dab the music with fascinating colors and display the wondrous variability of Astor Piazzolla’s works in a new light.
