The recording of the "Ring of the Nibelung" at the Bayreuth Festival in 1960 is one of the best "Ring" recordings ever: Wagnerians still rave about the impressive cast and masterful conducting of the Bayreuth debutant Rudolf Kempe. For his first "Ring" direction in Bayreuth, Wolfgang Wagners engaged numerous new voices in addition to established forces (Astrid Varnay, Hermann Uhde): Birgit Nilsson (Brünnhilde), Jerome Hines (Wotan), Hans Hopf (Siegfried), Gottlob Frick (Hagen) or Otakar Kraus (Alberich). This 12 CD box set is a re-release of the "Ring" released on Myto in 2011.
