Through their music, the composers presented here attempted to make this "new Europe" comprehensible for themselves and others, but also to give it a new sound. The five works recorded here therefore also represent the numerous new tendencies in European music of these years. The technically demanding choral works each give the Flemish Radio Choir under the direction of Paul Hillier the opportunity to demonstrate its extraordinary qualities. In contrast, the octet by Igor Stravinsky, written in 1923, I Solisti del Vento is allowed to do so.
