Pierre Philidor (1681 - 1731) Suites for oboe & basso continuo Antoine Torunczyck, Alfredo Bernardini oboe - The assembly of the honest curious Pierre Philidor belongs to this illustrious line Philidor, musicians and factors who left the Chalemies (open-air instruments under Louis XIII) to propose an oboe first admitted by Lully to the Small Band .... then who does his entry alongside the noble instruments (harpsichord, viola da gamba ...) Antoine Torunczyck wants to rehabilitate Pierre Philidor; grandson of the first factors who, around 1660, transformed the chalice into an oboe, son of the Philidor, who convinced Lully to bring the oboe to the Little Band. "Pierre is perhaps the Philidor of which François Couperin speaks in the preface to the Royal Concerts, who played for the old king in the company of Couperin, Visée, Marais ... In 1714 Louis XIV granted him the same salary as his illustrious colleagues , to "give it new marks of the satisfaction it has of its services". In 1716, just after the death of Louis XIV, Pierre officially became a holder of a "viola player of chamber music"; He is very probably tenured as a violist because the official oboe post of the chamber does not exist. At the same time as he is already two violists, and not least, to the room: Marin Marais and Antoine Forqueray (the latter officially as "flutist"!) The first attraction of this disc is the rediscovery of a wonderful composer too often confused within his dynasty. The second attraction is that Alfredo Bernardini has built specifically for this disc two instruments "twins", making copies, without changing neither the tuning fork nor the chord (at 398 Hz). By respecting the original pitch of the instruments, we have restored their flexibility, their original brilliance. Finally, just as Pierre Philidor belongs to the third generation of musicians who have adopted the "new" oboe, I belong to the third generation of "baroque". I am so moved and proud that two illustrious members of the generations who preceded me, my master Alfredo Bernardini and his master Bruce Haynes, have agreed to participate in this project.
