Barry Mills was born in 1949 and is for the most part self-taught as a composer. He obtained a degree in Biochemistry from Sussex Univeristy in 1971, returning there five years later to pursue a MA in Music, studying analysis with David Osmond-Smith and David Roberts and composition with Colin Matthews and Ann Boyd. His music has been performed and broadcast in England and Switzerland and has been featured in recitals in many London venues including the Wigmore Hall. Four albums of his chamber works have been issued by Claudio Records. Now, on the present release, he approaches orchestral pieces- such as Elan Valley and Evening Rain-Sunset, as well as concertos and duos for mandolin and guitar. Featured on this release alongside the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra are guitarists Sam Brown and Birgit Schwab and mandolin player Daniel Ahlert.
