The Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) will release a new recording of Handel’s Brockes-Passion this autumn, recorded live at the Barbican on Good Friday 2019, the 300th anniversary of the work’s first performance (Easter week 1719, Hamburg). • The culmination of two years of musicological investigation, this recording uses AAM’s new edition of Handel’s score which sets down the Passion using the best available modern knowledge. • With this new edition, AAM hopes to greatly increase awareness of Handel’s Brockes-Passion and encourage many more performances and recordings by both amateur and professional groups around the world.
