Written six years after his "hit" La Juive, both Berlioz and Wagner predicted similar success for composer Jacques Fromental Halévy's opera La Reine de Chypre (1841), even estimating it as another major masterpiece. Nevertheless, over time the piece disappeared completely from the repertoire of European opera houses. This could possibly change again in view of the production at EDICIONES SINGULARES. Once again, the label makes the hearts of curious opera lovers beat faster.
