opis
From 1716 to 1741 Johann Joachim Quantz lived and worked in Dresden. These 25 years proved to be a time of both self-reflection and growth that would carry him through the rest of his illustrious musical career. It was during this time that Quantz became acquainted with the works of Antonio Vivaldi, which made a very important impression on him, providing him with "good models" that he would later incorporate into his own work. Quantz was offered a position with the town band of Dresden in 1716 and enjoyed the rich artistic and international atmosphere of Dresden's musical scene. Flutist Eric Lamb is in demand internationally as a soloist, recitalist, concert curator and chamber musician. From 2007 to 2012, Eric performed extensively as a core member of the New York based International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and has been a guest with ensembles, orchestras and at major festivals throughout the U.S., South America, Germany, Holland and the UK. He continues to work closely with leading composers and conductors of our time while exploring performance techniques and practices throughout the entire scope of the repertoire, such as for recent recordings and editions of solo flute works by Johann Joachim Quantz and Johann George Tromlitz. On this recording, Eric performs on a wooden flute by Sankyo Handmade Flutes.
