The first complete recording of Georg Philipp Telemann's violin concertos on historical instruments continues with seven further works. Telemann's more than twenty violin solo concertos do not number among his most popular creations, no doubt because he wrote them more or less for his own use and in order to improve his violin playing. Moreover, they involve a genre until today little known in his over all oeuvre, and on Vol. 2 there is again a lot in the way of sound and variety to discover – a virtuoso music in which Telemann presents himself from what is still by and large one of his unknown sides and in which he repeatedly sheds new and fascinating light on the violin. Elizabeth Wallfisch is our soloist, and she again brings the melodious cantilenas to life and at the same time conducts L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra. »The CD series will be a new jewel in the cpo crown, and the continuation will be awaited with suspense« • (klassik. Com 9 / 04).
