Here’s the description: Premiered at the end of 1814, this was Rossini’s biggest flop (and its predecessor was Il turco in Italia, making the contrast even more stark) which he ended up cannibalizing for Elizabetta, regina d’Inghilterra, Torvaldo e Dorliska, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola and Adina.
