Die Winterreise 'without words' - is that even permissible?! What I Dioscuri, consisting of saxophonist Edgar Unterkirchner and organist and pianist Wolfgang Horvath create during their improvisations and free-form interludes is difficult to put into words. Through a focus on the pure melodies new worlds arise; the duo take inspiration from the musical scenery, and discover entirely new, individual stories, mostly inspired by extra-musical images, motives, themes or texts. Schubert.Metamorphosen takes the listener into an unknown Schubert realm, bridging the boundaries of classical and jazz music. The unique musical connection that the musicians have is the foundation for an astoundingly intense interpretation of Schubert's Die Winterreise without words rarely experienced before.
