When Jean-Philippe Collard-Neven and Jean-Louis Rassinfosse first met the Debussy Quartet, the repertoire they were going to play together was not yet fixed. The wish was to meet a classical quartet who practiced openings towards jazz, dance, circus and an atypical duo bringing together jazz double bass player and a polymorphic pianist, an active duo having multiplied experiences at the edge of classical, jazz , song, film music. • Over the years, the quartet and the duo dreamed of finding a common play space: sharing their respective journeys, one focused on the classical written repertoire and the other on improvisation and personal compositions. We had to build a tailor-made repertoire… At the end of a festival whose theme revolved around Bach, the quartet and the duo thought about the possibility of playing Bach together in a way that allows everyone to be faithful to his practice and his musical culture.
