Medusa, according to the metamorphosis of Ovidio, was a vestal of Athena. She bore Poseidon two children: the winged horse Pegasus and a son named Chrysaor. The goddess Athena, angered that Poseidon had made love to Medusa in one of her temples, turned her into a hideous monster, a Gorgon. The Medusa's many heads shows us to look at things from more than one point of view. This unique recording recounts the passionate, political and complex story of Lucrezia Borgia (the daughter of Pope Borgia) through the music of her culture, the music of her time, of the court and the people. Through her various marriages and love affairs, through the pain and pleasure and the eyes and ears of the musicians who were with her (Niccolò da Padova, Bartolomeo Tromboncino, Papino, Dalida dei Putti) we chart the journey of her life from the late 15th Century through the changing musical styles at the turn of the 16th century.
